All employees of bank branch accused of fake currency racket

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 25 (IANS) A criminal complaint was Thursday registered against all employees of an Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) branch in Ghaziabad town of Uttar Pradesh, where counterfeit currency worth Rs.149,100 was found, police said.

Senior Superintendent of police L. Ravi Kumar told IANS that a Reserve Bank of India (RBI) team found fake currency worth Rs.149,100 in the Kavi Nagar branch of OBC during an inspection.

Ramesh Prakash, chief manager of OBC, lodged a complaint against the entire staff of the bank branch in the Kavi Nagar police station.

In his complaint, Prakash said all 33 employees of the branch were found guilty of the transaction of counterfeit currency. He added that 34 fake notes of Rs.1,000, 230 notes of Rs.500 and one note of Rs.100 denomination were found in the bank.

Supreintendent of Police Vijay Bushan said no arrest had been made so far.
