Kashmir IPS officer to be new Punjab police chief

P.S. Gill, a Jammu and Kashmir cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, will be the next police chief of Punjab, official sources here said Wednesday.

An IPS officer of the 1974 batch, Gill is currently the director general of the Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation.

The sources told IANS that Gill's name has been cleared for the post of Punjab director general of police and he would take over his new assignment July 1 this year.
