A 13-year-old mentally retarded girl has been raped allegedly by a neighbour at her home in north Delhi, police said Tuesday.
Police said Shiv Kumar, 26, raped the girl at her Samaypur Badli house when her family members were sleeping late Friday.
"Shiv Kumar gaged her and threatened her to remain silent. When he left the house, the victim raised her voice and woke up her parents," said a policeman.
The victim's parents informed police, who took her to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, where doctors confirmed rape.
Police said a case was registered and search was under way to nab the attacker.
