Madhya Pradesh to upgrade health services

Bhopal, June 23

The Madhya Pradesh government Tuesday decided to upgrade the state's medical services by adding 100 ambulances, sanctioning funds for the Bhopal Medical College and also set up a veterinary science university, officials said.

This was decided at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here.

"The cabinet has decided to implement the scheme of Comprehensive Response Units with the assistance of the Emergency Management and Research Institute, Hyderabad. Towards this, 100 ambulances will be attached to the state's Medical College Hospitals.

"A call centre will be set up where all the information about emergency services will be made available through telephone. After receiving a call, the call centre will immediately inform the concerned department and arrangements will be made to shift the patient immediately to the nearest hospital," said an official.

The cabinet has also decided to set up a Veterinary Science University in a rural area.
