Madhya Pradesh Congress to take on BJP in assembly session

Bhopal, July 5

The Madhya Pradesh Congress Sunday said it will take on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the issues of missing tigers in Panna National Park, the murder of a legislator and the power and water shortages during the assembly session that begins Monday.

"Besides the ever worsening law and order, issues like power shortage, hike in power tariff, unannounced power cut for hours together, non-supply of potable water, murders due to conflicts over water, shortage of fertilizers and hybrid seeds and their black-marketing will also be raised in the house," Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi told IANS.

"We will also raise other issues like Panna National Park losing all its tigers, corruption in Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, illegal deforestation, non-allotment of land rights letter under Forest Rights Act, illegal mining of ores, students suicides after High School's poor result and poisonous mid-day meals," she said.

Deputy Leader of Opposition in the assembly Rakesh Choudhary said the case of Women and Child Welfare Minister Ranjana Baghel slapping a woman and the police not registering any complaint in this regard will also be taken up by the opposition.

Choudhary said that the police was also not taking appropriate action in the murder of Gohad legislator Makhanlal Jatav due to political pressure.

"Jatav's murder was a political murder and no step has been taken by police in this case. A CID (criminal investigation department) probe will be demanded in this matter during the monsoon session. We will go to the court if our demand is not meet," he added.
