New Delhi, July 6

Ronak Manuja and Vikram Reddy advanced while Aditya Madkekar fell short in the first round of the $15,000 International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament at the DLTA complex here Monday.

Madkekar gave third seed Hyun-woo Nam of South Korea a fright before losing 2-6, 6-1, 3-6. Nam next plays the winner of the match between Uzbek Vaja Uzakov and qualifier Karunuday Singh.

The 17-year-old Manuja overcame a stiff challenge from qualifier Pulkit Mishra 6-4, 7-6(4) and now awaits the winner of the match between V. Peranamallur-Chandrasekhar and seventh-seed Ranjith Virali-Murugesan.

While Manuja had to slug, wildcard Reddy barely broke a sweat in his 6-2, 6-2 demolition of another wildcard Chandril Sood. He next takes on the winner of the match between eighth-seeded Purav Raja and wildcard S. Narayanaswamy.
