Pop legend Michael Jackson was desperate to quit music in the months leading to his death as he had picked up an interest in filmmaking, close friend Bryan Michael Stoller has revealed.
Stoller said the superstar, who was addicted to prescription drugs, was "like a bag of bones", frail and tired, according to mirror.co.uk.
The revelations shatter the image that Jacko was 100 percent committed to his 50-date musical comeback at London's O2 Arena.
"It was almost as if he'd lost his love for music. He was so frail and exhausted. He wanted to move into filmmaking and told me it was much more important to him than his music," said Stoller, 49.
Stoller, a filmmaker had known Jackson for 20 years and he began secretly mentoring the King of Pop in film directing before the latter's death.
"We even formed a production company. It was his passion," Stoller said.
Jackson loved films and had cartoons on plasma TVs all the time.

Mumbai terror plotter David Coleman Headley's guilty plea on the condition that he be spared the death penalty as well as extradition to India is not as big a setback as it might appear from New Delhi. There is enough sting in his plea agreement to ensure that Headley is available to Indian investigators looking into the larger conspiracy related to the overall planning of the Mumbai attacks.
About a dozen US marshals took position inside the court of US District Judge Harry Leinenweber minutes before Mumbai terror suspect David Coleman Headley was escorted in.
Pointing to the David Headley case as illustrative of the "real threats from home-grown and international terrorists," the US says it will continue working to disrupt, dismantle and defeat terrorism at home and abroad.
In changing his plea from 'not guilty' to 'guilty', Pakistani American terror suspect David Headley has given graphic details of his preparations for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, including training at Lashkar-e-Taeba (LeT) operated camps in Pakistan.
Producer Kumar Taurani is pulling out all stops for his next film, the Vivek Oberoi-starrer "Prince". He is releasing it simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, not taking the IPL threat seriously.
