Raipur, July 12

At least six policemen were killed and over a dozen injured in a Maoist ambush in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon district Sunday, a senior police officer said.

"Six policemen were killed and several injured in an ambush in a thickly forested stretch of Rajnandgaon district where a reinforcement party is struggling to reach due to the hilly terrain," Girdhari Nayak, additional director general of police, told IANS.

He said District Superintendent of Police B.K. Choubey was among the injured and was battling for his life.

He could not give more details as the attack site has no communication link with the rest of the state.
