India's hockey goalkeeper Baljit Singh, whose right eye was operated after being hit by a golf ball in a practice session, is flying to the United States for post-operative treatment at John Hopkins Medical Center, Baltimore.

Baljit, 28, is being accompanied on the flight Tuesday night by Kiran Gopalakrishnan, a member of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) team that performed surgery on him last month.

He will be examined by the world renowned eye specialist Robert Morris at Alabama next week, Hockey India (HI) said in a statement here Tuesday.

Baljit was badly injured in his right eye after being hit by a golf ball while training at the Balevadi Sports Complex in Pune. He was immediately brought here and admitted at AIIMS where a four-hour emergency operation was conducted by a team of surgeons.
