India overcame a stiff challenge from Canada to win their second hockey test 4-3 before a packed stadium at University of Victoria here.

India thus lead the seven match series 2-0.

Dhananjay Mahadik scored his second goal for India, four minutes before the hooter to clinch the match Sunday.

Mahadik's first strike came in 32nd minute. The other goal scorers for India were Mohd Amir Khan (4th) and Shivendra Singh (21st). Wayne Fernandes (20th and 35th) and Rob Short (23rd) sounded the board for Canada.

India were lucky to escape with the victory as Canada carried the play in the second half and had several excellent scoring opportunities.

The hosts fought hard and bounced back each time they were behind.
