Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 7

Polling Saturday began in the three assembly constituencies of Kannur, Ernakulam and Alappuzha in Kerala, an official said.

The voters were seen queuing up in large numbers much before the polling began. The voting began at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.

Elections took place after Congress legislators from these constituencies got elected to the Lok Sabha.

The district administration has declared a holiday in the three constituencies for the electorate to cast their votes.

At Kannur, voting took place amidst tight security with more than 270 paramilitary troopers posted at 129 polling booths.

Ernakulam has 137 polling booths while Alappuzha has 104.
