Chennai, Nov 8

Tamil Nadu will see more showers in the next few days, the weatherman said Sunday as incessent rains threw normal life out of gear and claimed 15 lives.

Speaking to reporters, S.V. Ramanan, director of the regional meteorological department, said: "The low pressure area in Bay of Bengal near Kanyakumari has moved over to Arabian Sea and intensified there near Lakshadweep islands. However, rains will continue in different parts of Tamil Nadu."

Meanwhile, Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi held a meeting of senior officials in the State Secretariat on preventive actions to be taken to avoid flood.

The northeast monsoon set over Tamil Nadu late last month and for the last one week the state has been receiving continuous rains, filling up dams and lakes.

The state capital Sunday got some respite from the incessant rains of the past four days.

The sky Sunday was overcast, and there were intermittent light rains throughout the day.

Two women lost their lives in Dindugal and Virudhunagar when their house collapsed owing to the continued rains.
