The fuel will now cost Rs.40,423 per kilolitre effective Sunday midnight. The existing price of the aviation fuel is Rs.39,475 per kilolitre, an oil company official said.

In Mumbai, jet fuel will now cost Rs.988 more at Rs.41,710 per kilolitre.

In Kolkatta, prices are up by Rs.1,001 per kilolitre to Rs.48,681, while in Chennai it the hike is Rs.1,033 to Rs.44,526 per kilolitre.

The difference in fuel prices in cities is due to state taxes and differing costs of supply.

Earlier Nov 1, the oil firms increased aviation fuel prices by over 9 percent.
