New Delhi, Nov 19

In order to facilitate better security in the city, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will do a survey of squatters and hawkers to monitor their activities, Mayor Kanwar Sain said Friday.

"The corporation will start the survey, registration, preparation of bio-metric, bio-cryptic photo identity cards and creation of data base of squatters and vendors engaged in tehbazari and squatting activities," Sain said in a statement.

The process will begin next month.

"It will help in monitoring their activities from the security angle. The data base so created will be shared with Delhi Police," Sain said.

For the survey and registration procedure, the hawkers and squatters will be required to pay Rs.400 each.
