While the lowest temperature of the season recorded in the capital Saturday, the mercury is expected to dip further Sunday, met officials said.

The minimum temperature is expected to hover around eight degree Celsius Sunday.

"The minimum temperature in the capital is expected to drop to eight degree Celsius tomorrow (Sunday) in comparison to 8.6 degree Celsius today (Saturday). The maximum temperature will be around 25 degree Celsius," a met official told IANS.

The residents of the capital Saturday woke up feeling colder than usual Saturday morning. The met official cited the westerly winds blowing over the region as the reason behind the sudden dip in temperature.

"There has been a sudden dip in temperature because of the westerly winds. This (Saturday) morning, we recorded a dip of two degrees Celsius in the minimum temperature," an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The minimum temperature recorded at 8.30 a.m. was 8.6 degrees Celsius. On Friday, the minimum temperature was 10.7 degrees Celsius.

"Today's (Saturday) was the season's lowest temperature, until now," the official added.
