Three men looted nearly Rs.18 lakh (Rs.1.8 million) in cash at gunpoint from a power distribution office in this Haryana town near Chandigarh Monday evening, police said.

According to the police, the three men came to the office of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN), Haryana’s government sector power distribution agency, here and fled with the cash after brandishing a gun at an employee who was taking it to the strong room in the premises.

"Anil Dutt, an UHBVN employee, was going to place the bag, containing nearly Rs. 18 lakh, in the strong room - in the same premises but at some distance where they collect the cash - when two of the three came in and snatched the bag after pointing a gun at him," Panchkula's Superintendent of Police Manish Chaudhary told IANS.

"The third man was waiting outside the office in a car, in which they fled. We have collected some vital clues but we cannot disclose them right now," he added.
