A 78-year-old businessman was looted and shot dead here Monday when he was going to deposit Rs.8 lakh in a bank, police said.
Dau Dayal Rastogi was shot around 12 noon in the posh Gomtinagar locality, barely 100 meters from a police station.
"He was in a Santro car when three motorcycle-borne youths overtook him and forced the driver to stop. One of them tried to snatch the bag from Rastogi. When he resisted, he was shot in his chest," Superintendent of Police Paresh Pandey told IANS.
