380 competitors in Telegraph school chess

Kolkata Nov 30 (IANS) Altogether 380 students from over 160 schools across 10 Indian states and Bangladesh will compete for the Rs. 1 lakh prize money the Telegraph Schools' Chess Championship Dec 1-8 here.

The 21st edition of the championship, being held at the Gorky Sadan, will see last year's second placed player Sayantan Das as the top seed, followed by Sayajit Kundu and Prince Bajaj as the second and third placed players respectively.

Three and a half years old Aryan Daga will be the youngest player in the tourney, the only school level FIDE-rating chess tournament of the country.

The championship will be inaugurated by Grand Master Surya Sekhar Ganguly.
