The Punjab government Thursday said it would give top priority to villages in the border districts while deploying teachers and doctors to give the much-needed boost to the health and education sector.
“Civic infrastructure, health network and school education in the border villages have crumbled due to the lopsided policies of the previous Congress government. By not recruiting a single employee during their tenure, the school education, especially in the border villages has suffered the most,” said Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal here Thursday.
He added: “Our government has recruited 15,000 teachers and now we are in the process of recruiting 10,000 more who would be deputed in border villages. We are also recruiting 256 doctors who would serve in rural areas, especially in the most neglected border villages,” he said.
