This year, the Urdu Heritage Festival held at Connaught Place instead of Red Fort in the national capital. The main aim behind shifting the venue was to attract more visitors. The six-day festival attracted a large number of people interested in language, literature, culture and peotry as they were treated to a variety of programes such as qawwali, ghazal and mushaira. A part of the Delhi government’s attempt to support the language, the event has been shifted for the first time from the compound of Red Fort to the heart of city.
