Cong targets Modi, BJP defends him

Lucknow/ New Delhi/ Ahmedabad, January 18 (ANI): Congress today launched a scathing attack at the BJP and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, after the Gujarat High Court today upheld the appointment of state Lokayukta, retired high court judge R A Mehta. Congress party leader, Pramod Tiwari, said BJP s star CM Modi has been shying away from appointing a Lokayukta due to impending corruption charges against his government. The high court verdict comes as a setback to the state government as Modi had challenged Governor Kamla Beniwal's appointment of Justice (retired) RA Mehta as state s Lokayukta, deeming the move unconstitutional and unilateral.
