Raj police lied to me: Salman Rushdie

Jaipur, January 22 (ANI): In a latest development, controversial author Salman Rushdie has slammed the Rajasthan police alleging that they had invented a plot to keep him away from the literary festival. The annoyed author tweeted this morning that he has investigated and believes that he was indeed lied to about the security threats.He added he was outraged and angry. Meanwhile, prominent literary figures have defended Rushdie's freedom of expression but have also pointed out against hurting public sentiment. Social Activist Aruna Roy added that Rushdie's absence from the fest has tarnished India's image worldwide.
