Farmers not benefiting from inflation: BJP

Lucknow/Varanasi/New Delhi/Moradabad/Patna, Aug 20 (ANI): The BJP today lashed out at Union steel minister, Beni Prasad Verma for saying that farmers had benefited from inflation. Senior BJP leaders slammed Verma and said that rather then profiting from the rising prices of food products, farmers in the country were being forced to commit suicide as they faced the brunt of inflation and were reeling under heavy debt. Meanwhile JD (U) President Sharad Yadav said that he is astonished that a senior leader had made such remark. However, Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid defended Beni Prasad Vermas controversial remark and said that the government regularly keeps working towards maintaining a balance in market prices.
