India grabs first women s Kabaddi World Cup

 
 

Patna, March 5 (ANI): It was a defining moment for India when the national women's Kabaddi team lifted the World Cup trophy on Sunday after a tough battle with Iran. The women's team clinched the first ever world championship beating Iran 25 19 during a nail biting match in Patna. A large turnout of sports enthusiasts cheered the Indian eves as they dominated their Iranian counterparts throughout the match, with the score of 19 11 until half time. Deputy chief minister of Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi handed over the trophy to the victorious team amidst presence of popular figures from the state like Bollywood veteran and politician Shatrughan Sinha and state's Education Minister P K Shahi.
