IPL auction: Players under hammer, Ganguly goes unsold

Bangalore, January 08 (ANI): The auction for Season 4 of Indian Premier League (IPL 2011) began in Bangalore on Saturday. A total of 350 will go under the hammer, down from 416 after the initial list was pruned. The fourth season will have a total of 10 teams with two new entrants Kochi and Pune. While Gautam Gambhir and Irfan Pathan have been sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs11.04 crore and Rs9.66 crore respectively, Rahul Dravid went to Rajasthan Royals for Rs2.3 crore. During Sourav Ganguly's auction, the spotlight was on the Knight Riders' table, but the team's think tank looked down as his name was repeatedly called before he went to the unsold basket.
