Late Surge Extends Market Rally

A late round of buying turned what had been a modestly negative day on Wall Street into a day of gains. The Standard & Poors 500 average posted its 6th straight gain. A weak report on Chinese imports and exports kept the market in check for mch of the day. Meanwhile, the U.S. government cut its projections on this summers drought stricken corn crop by 17 percent.
