Maoists opposition for NCTC is nothing new, say experts

 
 

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): The Naxals have called a nation wide bandh on May 16 to protest against the proposed NCTC, the continuance of anti Maoist operations and the creation of an Army training camp in Chattisgarh. Maoists demand for withdrawal of the Centre s proposal to create a unified National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) has been criticized by experts. The Centre is working towards building consensus with state governments to launch a new counter terrorism body to fight against militancy. 83 districts in 9 states in India are severely affected by Maoist led insurgency and this has motived the government to form the NCTC to curb the menace.
