Spaniards in Madrid celebrate Euro 2012 victory

Madrid, July 02 (ANI): Ecstatic fans swarmed onto the streets of Madrid after Spain cemented their status as soccer's global superpower in vintage style by thrashing an overwhelmed Italy 4 0 to retain their European championship title. As their team lifted the trophy, the masses chanted and waved Spanish flags in the fan zone, before heading to Cibeles square, the traditional location for Real Madrid festivities, where celebrations continued the whole night. The victory makes Spain the first team in history to win three major international contests in a row, having previously triumphed in both the Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010.
