The country's second largest car manufacturer formally launched the latest facelift 'Grand i10' in India on Feb 03, 2017, after being showcased at the Paris Motor show in 2016. The car has been launched at a price of Rs. 4.58 lakh
The main highlight is the new U2 CRDi diesel engine that produces 75PS of power and 190Nm of torque. Hyundai has retained the old 1.2-litre petrol engine. Grand i10 is available in six exterior colours with the exception of Wine Red colour
that's replaced by Passion Red. With the launch of Grand i10, Hyundai plans to fill in the gap between the i10 and i20 vehicles.
Hyundai's tried and tested 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engine find its way in the Grand i10. The powerful 4-cylinder petrol engine produces 83 bhp at 6000 rpm and a torque of 114 Nm at 4000 rpm. The diesel engine comes with a second generation U2 CRDi technology that outputs a maximum power of 74bhp and a torque of 190 Nm.
The Grand i10 comes with a five-speed manual transmission on both petrol and diesel models. An automatic gearbox option is also provided with Grand i10.
The petrol will mostly deliver a mileage of 18.9 kmpl while the diesel returns a fuel economy of 24 kmpl.
The dimensions of the car remain almost the same with a slight increase in the overall length. The front of the car now comprises of a new 'cascading grille' and large headlamps. The lower part of the hexagonal grille has new round shaped fog lamps. Integrated turn indicators are provided with body coloured outside rear view mirrors across all variants, and diamond cut alloy wheels provided only for the top end variants - Asta and Sportz (O). Also, the Grand i10 receives roof rails in the mid and top-end variants.
The Sportz and Asta versions get chrome outside door handles with 'waist-line' moulding available only on the Asta variants. The base models Era, Magna also misses out on many features like sporty looking roof rails and premium looking outside rear view indicators which is available in the Sportz and Asta versions.
The cabin gets a dual colour tone with the manufacturers smartly mating black with beige color. The dashboard now comes with a 7-inch infotainment screen with support for Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto in Sportz (O) and Asta versions while lower variants Sportz gets a 5-inch screen. Low fuel indicator is a standard across all the variants. 2-DIN integrated radio, Mp3 player, AUX/USB ports with Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio controls and 1 GB internal memory are some of the features available in all variants except the base model Era.
There are also map pockets in the front and rear seats of the car, a passenger and vanity tray, rear a/c vents, rear power windows and electrically adjustable outside mirrors in all variants except Era.
Other features like the cooled glove box, push start/stop button and tilt steering are available on the Sportz and Asta variants with driver seat height adjustment and rear seat headrest adjustments and 4-speaker set up exclusively available on the Asta models.
Driver airbags come as a standard across all variants with passenger airbags only available in the top-end variant. Engine immobilizer - a standard feature to prevent thefts, and anti-lock braking system made available in the Asta model. The Grand i10 also gets day/night mirrors across all variants except the Era model.
Asta variants are also provided with a smart key and rear defogger while the Magna get standard keyless entry and Era gets a standard key option. The Grand i10 comes with front disc and rear drum brakes.
