After the huge success of the Duster, Renault has decided to increase its campaign in the Indian market. As a part of this, it plans to launch the Sandero in India by October 2015. This hatchback is from the same Dacia stable. It is one of the less costly offerings by Renault which originated in Romania. The plan is to use this car to replace the Micra.

The Sandero will be available in both diesel and petrol version in India. The car will be powered by a 1.5 liter four cylinder K9K diesel engine with a displacement of 1461 cc. It will generate a maximum power of 75 bhp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. Another version of this same engine will generate 90 bhp of power and 220 Nm of torque. Apart from this, the Sandero gets two variants of petrol engine as well. There is a 900 cc TCe turbo petrol engine that generates a peak power of 90 bhp and a peak torque of 135 Nm while the other is a 1.2 liter naturally aspirated engine that produces a power of 75 bhp. This version will also be available in LPG petrol variety. All the engines are quite frugal and this may be the key factor behind the success of this car in India.

The Sandero is a no frills hatchback with a high degree of efficiency and functionality which cannot help but appeal to the Indian car market. It looks quite handsome and set to make a fashionable style statement. The car is based on the BO platform of Renault. The design is dynamic. The front looks elegant with the traditionally designed radiator grille and the huge air dams on the front bumper. The car has a large ground clearance which gives it a dominating look. The new skid plates at the front and the rear add an off road touch. The two tone bumper is a stylish upgrade. The flared wheel arches with 16 inch wheels and the two tone roof bars complete the look of the Sandero.
A touch of European chic has been maintained throughout the styling of the Renault Sandero. The interior appears uncluttered without being Spartan. The car has a spacious and airy cabin. The honeycomb-styled polypropylene dashboard appears stylish while protecting the driver from knee injury in case of accidents. The central console is dominated by the three spoke steering wheel and the instrument cluster has a smooth streamlined look.
Features and specifications
Though simplistic in its layout, the car contains all the safety, comfort and entertainment features which can be found in this segment. It has cruise control with speed limiter, rear parking sensors, rear defogger, rain sensing wipers, power windows, power steering, electric outside rear view mirrors, air conditioner, remote boot release and remote fuel filler. Safety features include two airbags and anti lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution. The dash integrated music system provides on board entertainment.
