The Tata Zest is the compact version of the Bolt hatchback and it comes in petrol and diesel variants. This compact sedan borrows its exterior styling from the Manza hybrid concept. Built on the Tata’s X1 platform, the Zest bears very little
resemblance to the Manza. The sub 4m sedan, expected to carry a price tag in the range 5.5- 7 lakh, is all set to take on the rivals like Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire and Hyundai Xcent.

Engine and performance
The petrol version of the Zest comes fitted with the 1.2 litre Revoltron engine with inter-cooled turbocharging and multi-point fuel injection system. The motor generates a peak power of 84bhp at 5000 rpm and a peak torque of 140 Nm. This petrol version comes with five-speed mechanical transmission. The 1.3 L Quadrajet diesel engine powers the diesel version that develops a maximum power of 89 bhp at 4000 rpm and a peak torque of 200 Nm. This engine is mated to a five speed automated manual transmission. The newly developed Revotron petrol engine is expected to produce optimum performance. The Zest diesel is sure to return a mileage of 23- 25 kmpl where as the petrol version could deliver a healthy 18- 20 kmpl.
The Tata Zest design is new and eye-catching. The headlight cluster has been aggressively designed. The front grille too is different and there a chrome plated strip above the tata logo. The front bumper gets an aggressively designed air-dams. The 16 inch alloy wheels, body-colored handles and ORVM caps add to the side profile. The rear too is smartly designed with stylish-looking boot with a lot of chrome inserts, integrated with boot lip spoiler. And, overall, the car has a contemporary look.
The car that offers seating for five is spacious and the interior comes with dual tone look with premium beige and black color. The seats wrapped in beige colored fabric upholstery are wide and comfortable. The dashboard that comes with a lot of chrome further enhances the premium look. The Zest is fitted with Harman infotainment system with 5 inch touch screen. An advanced audio acoustic system for navigation, integrated with music system is another key feature. Among other features are power sockets, AC unit, cup and bottle holders, storage compartment, AUX-in, USB, Blue-tooth and steering mounted audio controls.
Features and specifications
The Zest offers improved braking and handling. As for the braking system, it offers front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Besides, the car also comes with a new advanced ABS system. The handling becomes easy thanks to the cornering stability feature and the electric power assisted steering system. The suspension is robust. Other key features include engine immobilizer, dual horn, seat-belts, speed sensitive power steering, side impact protection, dual front air-bags, keyless entry and central locking.
