May 27 : Redmi, a popular brand in India, has launched its 10X series—Redmi 10X 5G and Redmi 10X Pro 5G—in China on Tuesday. Promoted as the most affordable 5G smartphones, they have similar features like Redmi Note series, which did quite well in India earlier.
Redmi Note 8 series is undoubtedly a popular smartphone series in India. Over a million units of Redmi Note 8 series were sold in India within a month of its launch in October 2019. Redmi 10X series may also do well when launched in India.
While most features are similar in Redmi 10X 5G and Redmi 10X Pro 5G, they basically differ in camera configuration and battery charging specs. Both the phones support 5G networks and run on Mediatek Dimensity 820 chipset processor.
Users of Redmi Note 9 series phones will be happy to know that the new phones have similar designs. While the new phones have premium glass design, they are launched in three different colours—blue, violet, and gold.
Redmi 10X series have a display screen of 6.5 inch with narrow bezels. The display is of AMOLED panel from Samsung with a resolution of full HD+, and supports HDR10+ colours. With an in-display fingerprint sensor, the phones are quite trendy.
With variation of 6GB and 8GB RAM, and 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage, the dual-SIM (Nano) 10x series run on MIUI 12 based on Android 10.
While both the new phones have square cameras, 10X has a triple rear camera setup, and Pro has a quad camera setup at the back. Redmi 10X 5G has a 48-megapixel camera along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth camera. On the other hand, 10X Pro has a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 5-megapixel telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom and 30X digital zoom. While Redmi 10X 5G has a 16-megapixel selfie camera, Redmi 10X Pro’s selfie camera is of 20-megapixel.
The new phones also slightly differ in their battery specifications. Both the phones have 4520mAh battery but the Redmi 10X battery has 22.5W fast charging, and 10X Pro has 33W fast charging.
Redmi 10X with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage costs 1599 Yuan in China, which is about Rs 17,000. Its 128GB variant with 6GB RAM is priced at 1799 Yuan, which about Rs 19,100. The phones with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage cost 2099 Yuan in China, which is approximately Rs 22,300. The top-end version with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is price at 2399 Yuan or Rs 25,500.
