June 01 : Amid the current India-China confrontation and the campaign to boycott Chinese products on social media, Chinese smartphone brand Realme launched the Realme Watch in India last week. This second wearable from the brand features a 1.4-inch colour touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass 3.
The Realme Watch is available in India at Rs. 3,999, and offers decent functionality for the low price. It will be on sale on Flipkart and the Realme website since June 5. Soon after, the smartwatch will be on sale in offline stores as well. The smartwatch will come in fashionable wrist straps that will be available separately in red, blue, and green options at Rs. 499 each.
The Realme Watch is basically a fitness wearable and not a full-fledged smartwatch. The watch offers several health and fitness related features like a heart rate sensor to monitor real-time heart rate through a dedicated photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor. It is capable of recording the heart rate every five minutes, and the system then generates alerts if the heart rate is lower or higher than the safe thresholds under specific conditions. The wearable has SpO2 monitoring that enables users to track their blood oxygen levels as well.
The Realme Watch also has 14 sports modes like cricket, football, basketball, tennis, badminton, indoor run, outdoor run, walk, yoga, fitness, aerobic, and some others. You can also set alarm and get reminders for drinking water. It even supports idle alerts and weather updates. The smartwatch will also offer data on step count and calorie count. It also supports music control and camera control that will let users to remotely control music playback and take pictures straight from the watch.
The Realme Watch sports a 1.4-inch 320x320 pixels touchscreen display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and a dust and water resistance with an IP68-certified build. It also comes with a three-axis accelerometer.
The smartwatch supports Bluetooth v5.0 connectivity and is compatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop or above. Realme Watch does not support any SIM card. The watch can provide notification alerts from most of the apps installed on it like SMS messages, or chat messages from Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Although Realme Watch resembles Apple Watch design, and has a squareish look, it has way less features than Apple Watch. Unlike Apple Watch, the Realme Watch cannot attend voice calls, however, you can reject a call or mute its alert directly from the smartwatch.
