July 14 : After a teaser stating that Redmi Note 9 will be launched in India soon, Xiaomi on Monday took to Twitter to finally announce that the new handset is set to be launched in India on July 20 at 12pm (noon). The phone has been touted as been manufactured in India. The phone was launched in Europe in April this year.
The 3GB RAM with 64GB storage variant of Redmi Note 9 was launched at $199, that is, approximately Rs. 14,900. Its 4GB RAM with 128GB storage variant was priced at $249, that is, Rs. 18,700. Redmi India has not yet declared its pricing or its availability.
Redmi Note 9 runs on Android 10-based MIUI 11. It sports a 6.53-inch full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,340 pixels) IPS display that is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. The handset is powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 processor. It is packed with a 5,020mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. It also comes with a 22.5W fast charger for topping the battery quickly.
The smartphone has a quad rear camera setup along with a hole-punch design for the selfie shooter. It has the same squarish design like the Pro models, but in this phone a black patch is extended to conceal the fingerprint sensor. The camera setup contains a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth camera. For selfies, there’s a 13-megapixel camera.
