August 14 : Apple iPhone 12’s launch this year will not take place in September. The iPhone 12 series is now expected to be unveiled in October, as iPhone launch event has been postponed by a few weeks.
Sometime back, Apple had also confirmed that this year’s iPhone series launch will be delayed by a few weeks. “As you know, last year we started selling iPhones in late September. This year, we expect supply to be available a few weeks later,” said Luca Maestri, Apple’s Chief Financial Officer. This year, Apple will deviate from its traditional September launch schedule due to COVID-19 pandemic.
It is reported that the launch may now take place in the week starting October 12, and the shipping of the iPhone 12 may begin within a week of the launch.
Although Apple has not revealed the launch date of the iPhone 12 series, YouTuber and leakster Jon Prosser suggests that the launch can happen in the week of October 12. However, Apple Watch and iPad will arrive in September.
Prosser also revealed that the pre-orders and shipment of the premium version of iPhone 12—iPhone 12 Pro—are expected in November. Prosser also suggests that for the first time the iPhone 12 will be available before the iPhone 12 Pro series.
The Wall Street Journal had also reported that Apple has pushed back mass production of iPhone 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
