September 15 : Xiaomi launched the entry level smartphone-Redmi 9i in India today as a part of the Redmi 9 series. Earlier, the Redmi 9, Redmi 9A, and the Redmi 9 Prime were unveiled in the country in August and September. The handset comes in three colour options-Midnight Black, Sea Blue, and Nature Green.


The 4GB with 64GB storage variant of Redmi 9i is priced at Rs. 8,299 while the 4GB RAM with 128GB storage option carries a price tag of Rs. 9,299. The Redmi 9i will be available to purchase from September 18 at 12 pm (noon) via Flipkart,, and Mi Home stores. The device will also be offered by Xiaomi offline retail partners.


The dual-SIM (Nano) of Redmi 9i runs on MIUI 12, and is based on Android 10. The budget handset features a 6.53-inch HD+ with 720 x 1,600 pixels display, along with 1,500:1 contrast ratio, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 270 nits peak brightness, and TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification.

Powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio G25 SoC with 4GB of RAM, the phone comes with 64GB and 128GB storage option that is expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card. The smartphone comes with P2i coating for splash resistance.

The Redmi 9i sports a single 13-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter at the front. For connectivity, it has 4G, VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, VoWiFi, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Micro-USB port for charging. The smartphone is packed with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W fast charging and also comes with a compatible charger. According to the company, the handset has enhanced lifespan battery technology and delivers 2.5-3 years of lifespan vs. regular 2 years lifespan.
