September 24 : Saiee Manjrekar, who debuted in the third instalment of the Dabangg franchise, is all set to start shooting for her second film, a bilingual, in the second week of October. The actress has been roped in to play an important role in the Hindi and Telugu film, Major, which stars Adivi Sesh in the titular role.
Helmed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, the film is based on the life of NSG Commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who lost his life in the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack trying to save the hostages. Major is produced by Sony Pictures Films, Mahesh Babu's GMB Entertainment and A+S Movies. Saiee will resume the shoot in Hyderabad. The film is slated to release in theatres in the summer of 2021.
In a statement, Saiee said she instantly liked the script of Major and decided to do the film. “For me, what matters is the script and the impact the character has in the overall narrative. Once you deep dive in the dissection of the character, there are so many beautiful emotions that as an actress I can explore. This is what I saw in the script of Major which is why when it was offered to me, I instantly said ‘yes’ to it,” the Dabangg actress said.
More than 50 per cent of the film has been completed when it had to be stopped due to coronavirus pandemic. Adivi Sesh will essay the role of Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Sashi Kiran Tikka said that since none of them were present when the incident happened, it would be a challenge to bring authenticity to their imagination of what had happened in reality. The director stated, “Casting right is the base for good direction. When we watched Saiee work in Dabangg 3, we felt that she fits the bill perfectly.”
