September 26 : Shahid Kapoor was shooting for his upcoming film Jersey in Chandigarh in March this year when the shoot was halted due to the coronavirus lockdown. After a gap of almost six months, the actor will resume shoot in the first week of October.

Helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and adapted from his 2019 Telugu film with the same title, Jersey is a sports drama starring Shahid Kapoor as a cricketer opposite Mrunal Thakur. The film also features Pankaj Kapur as a cricket coach. The film is about an ageing cricketer who returns to the sport after 10 years to earn money to pay his lawyer’s fee and buy his son an Indian team jersey.

As per a Mumbai Mirror report, Shahid will start a 15-day outdoor schedule in Dehradun and Chandigarh in the first week of October. While cricketing portions of the film will not be shot now, Shahid will shoot some dramatic and emotional scenes with Mrunal during this leg of the shoot. While the film features two different time frames, Shahid will shoot in his older avatar during this schedule.

While 70 percent of the shoot has been completed, after this 15 days shoot, the remaining will be shot is one last schedule that will focus on the cricket, the report suggests. While Shahid has already started practicing cricket with his coach, extensive training will start after the monsoon, that is, at the end of October. The film will be wrapped up by December as the makers target a 2021 release. The team members were working on the post production activities throughout the lockdown from their homes, the report suggests.
