October 23 : After a two-year long hiatus, Shah Rukh Khan is returning to the big screen with three films. Starting with Siddharth Anand's Pathan, the actor will follow it with Rajkumar Hirani's untitled social comedy and Tamil filmmaker Atlee's action flick. Atlee's film has been making the headlines for quite some time now as the actor will be seen in a double role.
The superstar is all set to play the role of a father as well as his son. SRK will play the role of an investigative officer of a top agency, who will be out to nab his gangster son, also played by him. The film promises to be high with emotions and actions as the Don actor will battle with himself in this action venture.
Atlee’s film will mark his third movie where he will play a double role. Earlier, in 1998, SRK played a double role in Duplicate and in 2006 Don. A source told Mid-Day that unlike the earlier two films where SRK played a double role, Atlee’s films will be different as the two characters will belong to two generations. The action flick will revolve around the father-son relationship and their confrontations. The film seems to be similar like Ramesh Sippy's Shakti in 1982. However, the source claimed that the stories have nothing further in common.
It is also reported that Shah Rukh will undergo heavy prosthetics when playing the father's role. The project is expected to go on the floors from mid-2021 after the actor wraps up Pathan.
The Raees actor will kick off shooting for Pathan this November. In the revenge drama, Shah Rukh will take on John Abraham who plays the villain. The film also stars Deepika Padukone.
