October 23 : Kangana Ranaut is always the first to stand against anything wrong. The actress, who has been summoned by the Mumbai police, took on the streaming platforms and called them “porn hubs”.
The Panga actress reacted to the streaming platform Eros Now post, which shared a few memes featuring Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Katrina Kaif, which Kangana felt were sexually explicit. Although Eros Now deleted the memes, Kangana took to her Twitter account and shared a few screenshots along with her comment.
Tagging the streaming platform, the Queen actress wrote, “We must preserve cinema as a community viewing theatre experience, it’s more difficult to enthrall large section of audience than sexualise content for personal viewing, digitisation of art faces this major crisis, all streaming platforms are nothing but a porn hub. SHAME.”
In another tweet, the actress said that it is totally not the streaming platforms’ fault because now people prefer to wear headphones and watch content in their personal space, so all they need is instant gratification. She further points out that movies should be watched with the entire family, children, neighbours, which she calls a community experience.
Netizens also called out the streaming platform for hurting Indian culture and sentiments. Bollywood celebs have also reacted to Eros Now post. Producer Ashoke Pandit tweeted, “@ErosNow should take strict legal action and punish those people in their company responsible for abusing #HinduReligion because they are #Enemieswithin who can destroy the company which has contributed a lot to the entertainment industry."
Eros Now has deleted the post and issued an apology on its Twitter handle. It also released a statement which read: "To all those concerned, we at Eros love and respect our cultures equally. It is not and it has never been our intention to hurt anyone's emotions. We have deleted the concerned posts and we apologise for having offended anybody's sentiments. Thanking you, Team Eros Now."
