November 27 : It was announced earlier that Vicky Kaushal will collaborate with Uri: The Surgical Strike director Aditya Dhar once again after the huge success of the film. The action entertainer, The Immortal Ashwatthama, will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala. It is now reported that Sara Ali Khan will be roped in as the female lead.
Sara is reportedly in talks with the makers of the film, and is expected to sign on the dotted line soon, a Mumbai Mirror report stated. The report further added that Sara’s character will have a mythological background. According to reports, Katrina Kaif was rumoured to be in talks for the female lead, but since she is already working on a superhero film, it did work out.
While Vicky will undergo a lot of training for the superhero film, Sara also needs a lot of prepping, which she will start early next year. Vicky will reportedly undergo four months of prep before the flick goes on the floors in April 2021. The actor has reportedly kicked off training for Martial Arts, Krav Maga, and Jujutsu. He will also learn horse riding, archery, sword fighting and spear fighting.
Vicky's character is based on Guru Dronacharya and Kripi's son Ashwatthama, who fought with the Kauravas against the Pandavas in Mahabharat’s Kurukshetra war. However, the character will be set in modern times.
The Immortal Ashwatthama will be shot in many places in India. Vicky wanted to complete Karan Johar’s Takht before he kicked off Aditya Dhar’s film, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, plans have changed. The actor will now complete the Yash Raj Films’ comedy flick with Manushi Chhillar, and then began his training for The Immortal Ashwatthama.
The superhero action adventure will be a three-part project. It will be reportedly shot over three months at several locations in India and overseas like Greece, Namibia, New Zealand and Japan.
