January 23 : Sidharth Malhotra entered Bollywood in 2012 with Karan Johar’s film Student of the Year. Since then, Sidharth has bagged several prominent films and has given many hits, proving that he is here to stay. Some of his prominent projects include Student of the Year, Kapoor & Sons, Ek Villian, and more. The actor was last seen in the romantic action film Marjaavaan, and shared screen space with Tara Sutaria, Rakul Preet Singh, and Riteish Deshmukh. The film received mixed reviews and was an average grosser at the box office. In the same year, Sidharth was also seen in the action-comedy film Jabariya Jodhi alongside Parineeti Chopra, which also received mixed reviews and was a moderate hit at the box office.
In 2021, Sidharth will be seen in a biographical film, Shershaah. Helmed by Vishnuvardhan and co-produced by Karan Johar, the film is based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee and Army Captain Vikram Batra. Sidharth will play a double role—as Vikram Batra and his identical twin Vishal. The actor will share screen space with Kiara Advani for the first time. While the film was scheduled to be released in July 2020, it has been postponed to 2021. However, its release date has not yet been announced.
Sidharth’s upcoming film Thank God, which has just gone on the floors, is a comedy flick with a strong message. Directed by Indra Kumar, the film also stars Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh. Sidharth and Rakul were earlier seen together in 2018’s film Aiyaary and 2019’s Marjaavaan. Sidharth will work with Ajay for the first time. The film is bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Ashok Thakeria, Sunir Kheterpal, Krishan Kumar, Deepak Mukut, Markand Adhikari, and Anand Pandit, and co-produced by Yash Shah.
Sidharth will share screen space with South actress Rashmika Mandanna in Shantanu Bagchi’s directorial Mission Majnu. The action thriller, which is produced by RSVP and Guilty By Association, captures India’s audacious covert operation in Pakistan during the ’70s. Based on real events, the film will feature Sidharth as a Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent who goes into Pakistan for an operation that changed the relationship of both the countries. The film will go on the floors in February this year.
