Indian Women Rising - A Cinema Collective Of - By - For Women! With an endeavour to bring forth the unseen and unheard stories by imperative women creators of India, we present to you, @indianwomenrising, because when YOU shine, WE shine! Let’s rise, together! #IndianWomenRising #IWR @guneetmonga @tahirakashyap,” Ekta wrote on her post.
Indian Women Rising is a cinema collective. Ekta, Guneet and Tahira found that in India, representation of women on screen and behind the camera are very limited. Even less than 5 per cent of the total directors in India are female. The trio, therefore, realised that it’s time to change the scenario. Indian Women Rising promises to shine the spotlight on the women talent of India. The endeavour will use their collective resources to amplify women creators.
When Guneet and Tahira approached Ekta with the idea it was an instant yes from her. Ekta is known for making the careers of many TV actors, particularly actresses through her TV serials.
