February 26 : Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has been currently working on a new web series, where he is revisiting the history of India. Mishra will narrate the rise of the British Raj in India during the 19th century.
In a recent interview, the director said that the story of the web show is set in 1840. The director feels responsible that the younger generation should know the real stories of our freedom and what the British did to India. The series will trace the established of British rule and its spread in the country over the years.
While the filmmaker, who is known for directing films like Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Dharavi, and Chameli, has already written the first season, he still feels that the project will take time to roll as it will be made on a massive scale. The web series has been conceptualised by Mishra and will run over three seasons. Since it will be an international show, it will include both western and Indian actors. Applause Entertainment will back the project.
Meanwhile, Mishra’s last project was Serious Men, a satirical comedy drama film based on the book of the same name by Manu Joseph. The film that starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role, was produced by Bombay Fables and Cineraas Entertainment. It was released on Netflix on October 2, 2020. The film is about Ayyan Mani, a Dalit personal assistant to a Brahmin scientist. After a lifetime of being called names such as ‘moron’ and ‘imbecile’, Ayyan Mani decides to channel his anger at the world by conning it. He begins a journey and convinces the world that his 10-year-old son is a genius. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has given a stellar performance in the film.
