Earlier, Aditya Roy Kapur was selected to take on John Abraham in Ek Villain Returns, but due to creative differences with Mohit Suri, he walked out of the film. Mohit then brought Arjun Kapoor on board to replace Aditya.

As the Ek Villian Returns team is shooting amidst the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, with cases rising steeply in Mumbai, Disha sent out a strong message from the sets of the film. She shared a picture of herself wearing a mask and asked everyone to adhere to all COVID-19 protocol. In the picture, the actress can be seen wearing a white mask, while she is clad in a bathrobe, indicating that she is waiting for her makeup to start. Disha captioned the post as, “Wear Your Mask.”
