May 08 : Bollywood has reunited to chip in support for relief work as the country continues to battle the acute situation of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. Several celebrities have come forward to do their bit by either donating or raising funds for COVID-19 relief. Now, Abhishek Bachchan has announced that he will be a part of the virtual fundraising drive and help raise funds for COVID relief work.
Taking to his Twitter account, Abhishek Bachchan shared a poster of the virtual fundraiser that displays the names of people from different fields who will support the 'I Breathe for India foundation' and 'Give India'.
“I am Committed to helping India fight COVID-19. Every rupee we raise through this fundraiser will be doubled by our donor partners. I BREATHE FOR INDIA, do you? Click on the link http://bit.ly/IBreatheForIndia The only way to make a difference is - TOGETHER. #IbreatheForIndia,” Junior Bachchan wrote.
Hosted by Lara Dutta and Shyamal Vallabhjee, the fundraiser has a panel of celebrities including, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Karan Johar, Tarun Tahiliani and other prominent names from different fields.
The event will be a virtual fundraiser programme, which will be conducted by 'I Breathe for India: Covid Crisis Relief'. The programme will be aired on May 9 across Facebook, Instagram and YouTube from 6-8 pm.
The funds collected from this virtual fundraiser will be used to purchase medical supplies like oxygen concentrators, ICU beds, oxygen cylinders, etc. The fund will also be used to provide direct cash support to the needy.
Director-producer Karan Johar also shared the information on his Instagram handle and wrote, “I am committed in my effort to helping India accelerate the fight against COVID-19, Every rupee we raise through this fundraiser will be doubled by our donor partners.” He also urged fans to stay home and be safe.
