May 12 : Twinkle Khanna has been sharing special posts on her Instagram handle, mentioning the contributions done “quietly” by Bollywood celebs towards COVID-19 relief work. Earlier, she praised Vidya Balan, now the actor-turned-author showered praise on her neighbour Hrithik Roshan.
Praising Hrithik’s contributions towards COVID-19 relief, Twinkle shared a sun-kissed picture of Hrithik and wrote, “Going beyond help thy neighbour, mine is doing his bit during this crisis in multiple ways. A big shout-out @hrithikroshan.”
Hrithik Roshan had recently joined hands with Hollywood actors to raise funds for relief work in India. The War actor, together with a host of American and Hollywood stars, raised about USD 3.68 million. The actor himself contributed USD 15,000 to the fundraiser, which included Hollywood stars like Shawn Mendes, Jada, Will Smith, Jamie Kern Lima and many others. Hrithik has also donated N95 and FFP3 masks to the municipal workers of Mumbai and had joined hands with an NGO to facilitate food packages to underprivileged people.
Recently, Twinkle shared a black and white picture of Vidya Balan on her Instagram handle and wrote, “Thank you @balanvidya! A woman with immense talent and an even larger heart for quietly helping those in need.”
Recently, Twinkle had also shared on social media that she and her husband Akshay Kumar donated 100 oxygen concentrators for the COVID-19 patients. Akshay Kumar has also contributed Rs 1 crore towards relief work. Twinkle also urged her fans through an Instagram post to donate towards procuring oxygen supplies for the COVID patients as the country faces an acute shortage. Twinkle also took to Twitter to respond to a troll who criticised her for urging people to donate towards COVID-19 relief when she herself can contribute as her husband Akshay Kumar is one of the highest-paid actors in Bollywood.
Responding to a retired IAS officer, Twinkle wrote on Twitter, “Have donated 100 concentrators toward this cause & in multiple other ways. As I’ve said before, it’s not about me or you but what we can do collectively for those in need. Sad that at this point, instead of pitching in, we expend energy in pulling people down. Stay safe.”
