May 12 : Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has launched an OTT platform called Spark OTT. Taking to his Twitter account, the filmmaker revealed the news and also informed that he will start streaming his much talked about film D Company on Spark OTT.
Taking to social media, Varma shared a video clip, wherein celebrities like Prabhas, SS Rajamouli and Prakash Raj wished the filmmaker on his new achievement. The video also captured a glimpse of the film. "Thanking all the well wishers of SPARK OTT Streaming from May 15th with D COMPANY FILM," the filmmaker tweeted.
Entrepreneur Sagar Machanuru has joined hands with Ram Gopal Varma to launch the OTT platform. It will provide content in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages. All movies from RGV will be released exclusively only on Spark OTT.
In 2002, Ram Gopal Varma had directed a film titled Company, which captured the world of mafia. In 2020, the filmmaker explored the underworld once again in his film D Company. The film is based on Dawood Ibrahim and showcases his life from 1980 to 1982. The film was initially slated to release in cinemas on March 26 this year, but due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the release of the film was halted. Now the filmmaker has decided to launch it on his OTT platform.
The makers of the film had released the trailer of the film back in March. The trailer introduced the viewers to the world of D Company. The film is set in the 1980s. In a tweet, the filmmaker called the film his “most ambitious project”, and wrote “The film is about the underworld SAGA of MUMBAI headed by DAWOOD IBRAHIM.”
D Company has been written and directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The film is backed by Sagar Manchanuru under the banner of Spark Productions.
