May 18 : Anushka Sharma has been contributing her bits for COVID-19  relief. While she has been sharing information about resources and raised funds for relief work amidst the second wave of the pandemic, the actress took to social media to reveal a valuable piece of information for expectant mothers who need medical aid during the pandemic as well as the Cyclone Tauktae in Maharashtra. 

Anushka, who welcomed her daughter Vamika in January this year, took to Instagram Stories and wrote, “@ncwindia has launched a 24*7 WhatsApp helpline number – 9354954224 for their #HappyToHelp initiative which is for expectant mothers in need of medical aid! The #NCW team will be available round-the-clock for providing medical assistance!”

Anushka and her husband Virat Kohli recently joined hands with Ketto and contributed Rs. 2 crore to a fundraiser for COVID-19 relief. They also raised funds of about Rs. 9 crore for COVID relief. Earlier, they had set a target of Rs. 7 crore, but later they managed to raise Rs. 11 crore, the actress informed on social media. "Our hearts are filled with gratitude after witnessing the kind of help we have received from you. Thank you once again," the actress wrote in an Instagram post.

Earlier, while closing the fundraising campaign, Anushka and Virat said in a video on Instagram, “Hello everyone. We thank you for your invaluable contribution. Our Ketto campaign has now come to an end. We have surpassed our target. Thanks to you, all the funds will be going to ACT Grants who are working tirelessly for Covid relief in our country. Your contribution will help our country fight the pandemic, and it wouldn’t be possible without your support.” 

The couple also urged people to take precautions and get vaccinated as soon as possible. They said, “Let us continue doing our bit to protect each other — wear a mask, sanitise regularly, follow social distancing and get vaccinated as soon as possible. Jai Hind!”
