June 11 : With an intention to be sustainable on World Environment Day, Richa Chadha becomes a little unsuccessful. While the actress bought a cast iron pan that can actually last for centuries if properly cared for, it has a natural non-stick surface that’s eco-friendly. However, the actress burns her first roti while trying to experiment with it.
Richa took to her Instagram handle and shared a video, where she displayed the charred roti that she tried to make on the cast iron pan, which she admits that she didn't know how to use properly. "For World Environment Day, wanted to use a sustainable thing so I got a cast iron tawa. But I guess I didn't know how to use it properly because...this is my roti. You can hear it," the actress was heard saying, as she showed the burnt roti and hit it on the tawa to show how hard it has become.
"Don't ask me again why I hate cooking," the actress was heard saying. Sharing the video, Richa wrote in the caption, “PANtastic blunder.”
While fans couldn’t stop laughing at her “blunder”, and dropped laughing emojis on the comments section, actor-singer Manasi Scott shared some tips on the right way to use a cast iron pan. "I’ve been using only cast iron for all our cooking for years now!! Have to season the pots and pans first (includes oiling and baking them) @therichachadha …. Those were the good ol’ days of big, open restaurants and their kitchens and my absolute fav @chefamnindersandhu helped me do mine!! Love you both!!," she wrote in the comments section.
Fans were also worried for Richa's boyfriend, actor Ali Fazal, who they felt have to eat the burnt roti. "Ali bhai ko khaana padega yeh (Now, Ali bhai has to eat this)," wrote one. "@alifazal9 le bhai kha tu teri gf ki hath ki roti (Ali Fazal now eat this roti made by your girlfriend)," wrote another.
Richa is used to making such blunders in the kitchen. Last year during the coronavirus pandemic, Richa, who tried to cook and got caught on unfamiliar grounds, had taken to her Instagram stories and shared how poor her culinary skills were by posting a picture of a burnt wooden ladle, which had caught fire, while she was cooking with it. "Only I can burn the damn ladle along with the food," Richa wrote.
